Grace Robinson is a student at The School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Grace volunteered at Melodic Connections camp four out of six sessions. She shares her thoughts on her volunteering here:
“Melodic Connections has not only helped me learn more about a career that I’m interested in, but has also more importantly made me a much richer person. Making music, laughing, and learning from these kids was so incredible.
More often than not, it was the little moments that stuck with me the most, such as sitting with a boy during art class, whom I’d offer materials and occasional encouragements. Throughout most of the day, he was a complete extrovert, but during art, he sat in complete silence, taking as much time as he possibly could have to complete his piece. The pride on his face whenever he finished his art was priceless.
For four weeks, I saw every camper that entered the door find something that they loved to do and I saw the smiles on their faces when they found that outlet. I don’t think I’ll ever forget how that feels.”
